Mr. Sean Clark, Principal

Sean Clark was named principal of Eufaula High School in December 2018 and started work in January 2019. Mr. Clark worked in Ozark City Schools for the past 9 and a half years. He was principal of Carroll High School for the past three and a half years. His tenure in Ozark also included being an elementary school principal and high school assistant principal. He began his education career in Baldwin County Schools and has taught history and special education. Prior to teaching, Clark served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Clark completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Troy University in political science/military science and from the University of West Alabama a Master of Science in instructional leadership, a Master of Science in special education and an Education Specialist degree also in instructional leadership. 

Clark and wife, Meg, who is also an educator, have two children—Russ (an eleventh grader) and Teddy (a ninth grader).

Mr. Darrell Woods, Assistant Principal

Darrell Woods is a native of Columbus, Mississippi.  He has 21 years in education experience in Alabama. He is a graduate of Caldwell High in Columbus, Mississippi.  Mr. Woods obtained his Bachelor’s from Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi and his Master’s from Alabama State University. He began his teaching career as a history teacher and counselor in Selma City Schools where he spent four years. He served as an assistant principal in Montgomery City Schools for eight years, principal at Pickens County High for four years, and principal at Sumter Central High School for one year. He is in his fourth year as assistant principal at Eufaula High School.

Mrs. Amanda Ates, Assistant Principal

Amanda Ates has 25 years experience in education. She is in her first year as assistant principal at Eufaula High School. Mrs. Ates grew up in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, and graduated from Walton High School in 1986. She received her Bachelor’s in public relations and journalism from Troy University in 1991. Mrs. Ates worked as a grant writer for the Walton County Council on Aging from 1992-1994.  After receiving her teaching certificate from the University of West Florida in 1994, she began her teaching career at Freeport High School where she taught 9th-12th English and reading intervention for 11 years. Moving to Eufaula in 2005, Mrs. Ates began teaching 9th - 12th grade English and standardized test preparation courses at Eufaula High School where she taught for the past 13 years. Mrs. Ates received her Master’s in K-12 Educational Leadership from Auburn University in 2015 and she received her K-12 Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Auburn University in 2018.  Mrs. Ates was chosen as Freeport High School’s Teacher of the Year (TOY) in 2003 and subsequently earned the prestigious title of Walton County’s TOY from among 15 school TOY’s. Mrs. Ates was chosen as Eufaula High’s 2014 TOY. Mrs. Ates serves her community as the Pilgrimage Court director for the Eufaula Pilgrimage. She is a former member of the professional teacher’s sorority, ADK, and she is a member of CLAS. Mrs. Ates and her husband Scottie have three children: Haley, Luke, and Cal.

Ms. Yvonne Grant, Assistant Principal & HOPE Academy Administrator

Yvonne Grant is a native of Eufaula, Alabama, and has 21 years of educational experience. A 1991 graduate of Eufaula High School, Ms. Grant began her teaching career at Dauphin Junior High School where she taught math for 15 years. She has served Eufaula City Schools in an administrative capacity for 6 years.  Currently she is the HOPE Academy administrator and and an assistant principal at Eufaula High School. Ms. Grant’s educational background includes a Master’s in Educational Leadership and a Master’s in math education from Troy University. She received her Bachelor’s in Computer Information Science and Math from Troy University. Ms. Grant holds a professional membership in CLAS.
